Going and saving Green - Part 1

Do you remember when Pluto was a planet and some fruits and veggies were available only 6 or so months of the year ? If that's the case you , like me, were probably born in the 70's and are now raising families , like me, and wondering, like me, what kind of crap am I ingesting and feeding to my family these days ?

My first thoughts on this subject were Could our diet be any worse than the 70's ? After all we know more about disease and chemicals and their precarious relationship to one another today . We all remember acid rain and the gaping hole in the ozone layer , we know all those pesticides and volitile organic compounds etc.. can't possibly still be coating our fruits and vegetables , flavoring our frozen dinners , and perma-frosting our our coiffed heads ? Oh they can, and they are , in greater amounts than ever .

In this series of posts I am going to discuss some topics , not only important to moms , but to anyone who want's to maintain a working grocery budget and their health . I hope to dig a little through the hype and find a way for my family and yours eat better on a budget .
